The terms of the program, which the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility finances, stipulate that companies, associations, establishments, and research organisations can receive funding of up to 100 thousand euro for the implementation of their digital projects. The program "Support for the digitisation of business processes" has been implemented by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia in cooperation with the Ministry of Economics and the European Digital Innovation Hubs.
"Digitisation provides ample opportunities for improving and streamlining the business operations of companies, so this program has been highly welcomed. The support measures have been designed to permit clients to accurately quantify the benefits they have gained from the program, as the digital maturity assessment will have to be completed both before and after the implementation of the project," emphasises Kaspars Rožkalns, the director of the LIAA, adding that many entrepreneurs have already expressed great interest in the opportunity to use this support tool.
The aim of the program is to stimulate digitisation in business and to increase productivity. Funds can be obtained for developing, implementing, or transforming digital products, services, applications, and processes. The aid is available in the form of a grant, which the LIAA will pay out after the successful implementation of the project.
More specifically, support will be made available for activities related to digital solutions: in sales, human resources, data and resource management, and the management of transport and logistics systems, production, quality control, ICT security, and so on.
Within the program's framework, small businesses will be able to apply for grants in the amount of 100%, on the condition that the project's total cost does not exceed five thousand euro. On the other hand, a grant of up to 100 thousand euro will be available not only to companies but also to associations, establishments, and research organisations. The aid intensity for these grants ranges from 30 to 60% of the eligible project costs.
Before submitting a project application to the LIAA, you must contact the European Digital Innovation Hubs at www.dih.lv. There, you can take a digital maturity assessment and receive a roadmap for digital transformation. After completing the digital maturity assessment, the project developer must register on the business development platform managed by LIAA, business.gov.lv, and submit their project proposal.
The total funding allocated for grants within the support program implemented by LIAA, namely, "Support for the digitisation of business processes", is 37.5 million euro. No fewer than 200 merchants, associations, establishments, and research organisations will receive funding by 30 June 2026.
To promote the digital transformation of companies, the Ministry of Economics will implement five support programs in total, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility. Consequently, in the time frame until 30 June 2026, at least 7000 merchants will benefit from the aid program. A total of 139.4 million euro will be invested in the digital transformation of businesses and in the development of digital services, skills and capabilities.
