LIAA will carry out the project "Agri-Biocircular-Hub: Center of Excellence for Smart Agriculture and Circular Bioeconomy Towards a Sustainable Agri-Food Sector in Enlargement Countries."
The project will be implemented over a four-year period, from 2025 to 2029.
LIAA’s 2023-2029 strategy focuses on fostering knowledge-intensive business, export growth, and investment attraction, with an emphasis on smart specialization strategy (RIS3) areas.
The "Agri-Biocircular-Hub" project aligns with LIAA’s strategy by contributing to Latvia’s RIS3 sector – Knowledge-Intensive Bioeconomy. It aims to enhance the ecosystem and its environment, promoting business opportunities and potential investments in the future.
The "Agri-Biocircular-Hub" project aims to promote collaboration in the circular economy, specifically within the agriculture sector. It will integrate innovation ecosystems in Poland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, and Ukraine, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, government institutions, and civil society.
The full project name is: AGRI-BIOCIRCULAR-HUB: Excellence Hub for a Smart Agriculture and Circular Bioeconomy Towards a Sustainable Agrifood Sector in Widening Countries (and Beyond)
The project is being implemented within the framework of the EU’s Horizon Europe Program, under the "Excellence Hubs" subprogram.
The total funding allocated for the project is €5.996 million.
LIAA's specific functions under the project are expected to receive €217,789, according to the preliminary plan.
This funding will be included in the budget of the Ministry of Economics and LIAA as foreign financial assistance within the agency's revenue in the respective year.
