One of Uzbekistan's leading IT companies, UZINFOCOM, employing over 1,000 people, has chosen Riga for its European office. The new location will create 100 jobs and serve clients across the EU and Ukraine.

"Uzbekistan is undergoing rapid modernization and investing in digitalization, developing its IT business services sector - a sector that has shown stable growth in Latvia for several years. It is no coincidence that 90% of public services in Latvia are available electronically. This was one of the key reasons UZINFOCOM chose Riga for its European office. This move will undoubtedly strengthen Latvia's position in the sector and boost business service exports," emphasizes Raivis Bremsmits, Director General of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA).

Closer cooperation between Latvia and Uzbekistan in the IT sector began three years ago when Edgars Rinkevics, then Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Tashkent. During the visit, an agreement was signed to establish the office of Uzbekistan's high-tech hub, IT Park, within the EU. As a result of this agreement, UZINFOCOM is launching its operations in Latvia, creating new opportunities for IT sector growth and technological collaboration between the two countries.

Aleksandrs Petrovs, Chairman of the Board of UZINFOCOM EUROPE in Latvia, highlights that cooperation between Latvia and Uzbekistan in the IT sector has strengthened in recent years, driven by both countries' efforts to promote the digital economy, technological development, and innovation. This collaboration occurs across various levels, including government institutions, education, and private sectors, fostering close cooperation and information exchange.

"We extend our special thanks to the Latvian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Reinis Troksa, and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Latvia, Timur Rahmanov, for their support in implementing this project. We also express our gratitude to the Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Latvia, Vladimir Galperin, and LIAA for their contributions to UZINFOCOM's entry into Latvia," says A. Petrovs.

Founded in 2002, UZINFOCOM has accumulated significant experience developing unique IT solutions, including biometric palm and facial recognition technologies, video analytics, call center automation, and more.

The company comprises over 1,000 qualified specialists whose expertise allows them to develop solutions in high demand across global markets. All company databases will be hosted within the EU, ensuring high protection and full compliance with European data security standards.
